She needs Rapunzel for her magical hair for the fascination of being young. Though there is difference, her character in the film reminds us the German fairytale of Rapunzel.

Rapunzel’s mother, the queen ate the magical healing flower that Gothel knew about. That flower kept her young for years after years. On finding that magical power, Mother Gothel kidnapped the baby princess from the place. Rapunzel knows her as mother. Mother Gothel, voiced by Donna Murphy is a very interesting character with tricking, incredibly manipulative nature. She constantly undercuts self-confidence of Rapunzel, tells imaginary stories about the world and sings motivating songs “Mother Knows Best” and “Mother Knows Best (Reprise)” to keep her in the secret tower. She really cares for the girl just for her magic hair. Everything was going smooth for Gothel but a mishap happened at Rapunzel’s eighteenth birthday and she came to know who she is. Mother Gothel got more and more desperate and finally insane for her magic hair.

Gothel is described in the story in a variety of ways, a witch, good, bad, magic, no magic and many more! Gothel means “godmother” in the Southwestern dialects of German. Disney has added the stealing part of the princess Rapunzel from the garden, may be Rapunzel had to be a Princess!

Actually it is a business segment of the Walt Disney Company. At the same time Disney is the world’s largest publisher of children’s books and magazines. DisneyStore.com is the official shopping portal of Disney Company.

History of DCP started in 1929 when Walt Disney licensed the image of Mickey Mouse for use on a children’s writing tablet. In 1932, Disney set the standard for character licensing within the industry. That was only the beginning and today Disney is the world’s largest licensor.

DCP has now six key franchises and their core strategy is to focus on them. They are:

•	Disney Channel & Disney XD

•	Disney Fairies

•	Disney•Pixar’s Cars

•	Disney•Pixar’s Toy Story

•	Disney Princess

•	Mickey Mouse

•	Winnie the Pooh

Disney products are influenced by favorite animated characters from the very beginning to now, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Mickey Mouse to recent film stars like Rapunzel from Tangled.

Not only by the animated characters, DCP is also inspired by live-action films. Recently Disney included the imaginative merchandising programs of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and Prince of Persia. Additionally, DCP included teen programs like Hannah Montana, High School Musical and also preschool program like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse influenced by Disney Channel, Disney’s television entertainment or Disney XD.

Sales of licensed Disney Princess, Disney Fairies franchise has created a new world for six-to-eight year-old girls.

ESPN joined DCP by adding sites in Torrance and Santa Ana, California. Many more stores throughout the U.S. were added then. Disney Licensing introduced a line of ESPN products sold through ESPN and even sports fans can shop online at ESPN.com. The Magazine of ESPN was debuted in 1998 and very quickly it became popular.

Disney Consumer Products of Walt Disney Company like Pooh blankets for babies, Tiaras for baby girls, books for preschool children, sports jackets for boys or digital music players for teenagers all gave a new life style band to them.

Everyone knows about Mickey who knows about Disney and who knows about animation is familiar with the name Disney. He had a long journey of 83 years. Thanks to Mr. Walt Disney for over 300 Disney characters over the last 88 years. It was 1923 when Walt Disney started his movie studio in Los Angeles. In 1928 Mickey came to light and over the next few years public was introduced to a number of Mickey’s “family”. His friend Goofy and Donald Duck, dog Pluto, his girl friend Minnie, Donald’s girlfriend Daisy, Clarabelle Cow and the gruff Peg-Leg Pete all are familiar faces for Disney lovers. They have also grand roles in the games based on Mickey.

Disney Ludo game is popular still now. Even you can play this game in online in many gaming websites. But it started with its most popular character Mickey with the Mickey Mouse Coming Home Game. The game was published in the year 1930 at the very beginning of Mickey Mouse. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar, and Clarabelle Cow participated there. The same game came with the name Mickey Mouse Ludo in England. In 1935, nineteen Mickey Mouse games and jigsaw puzzles were introduced in England.

Next game with Mickey mouse is an updated version of an old battery operated quiz game. This game was introduced in 1930. Here Mickey is dressed in his fancy outfit from the Disney landmark motion picture Fantasia. The game was designed as an educational game to teach younger children that how to recognize, compare, and match images.

Playing cards with Disney cartoon characters became popular in the late 1940s. It became popular in North America with the name Canasta. After the Second World War, Canasta spread rapidly through South America and to the United States and then to Britain. In the late 1940s and early 1950s it became so popular in all these places more than Bridge. The craze is no more but Canasta is still a popular game. The game Canasta is derived from the Rummy family of card games. The game was published in 1947. This package included games of Bambi, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, three Little Pigs latter. Actually the Disney version of Canasta is a modification of the standard game.

Another type of Mickey Mouse themed game is a board game. The game is based upon the television show The Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers. This show was telecasted on the ABC Network from 1955 through 1959. Interesting is that this game requires not just typical board game play, but also requires the singing of the “Mouse Club Song”!

The last one is Epic Mickey, an updated video game with a new look of Mickey. It has 2D cinemas and used Emergent Game Technologies’ Gamebryo Engine. It is the re-brand the Mickey Mouse with devious and tricky image of Mickey rather than typical funny, cheerful one. The game was released on November 25, 2010 in Europe and on November 30 in North America. By playing “Epic Mickey,” you will get a historical lesson about Mickey house and Disney world. In this video game, a former hero Oswald the Lucky Rabbit also came into light.

With the more than eight decades that have passed it can be said that for most of us in this generation these figures were significant icons during our growing up years. Perhaps as a form of security blanket reminiscent of childhood memories, serious followers have succumb to collecting the plethora of materials of their favorite Disney characters. From toys to figurines to room decors to whatever memorabilia is released soon after as part of the media franchise, any true-blood Disney fanatic will surely have at least one form of collection he can boast of.

After some serious thought it becomes apparent that the number of Disney personages can be categorized into two groups, namely:

Human Characters

Captain Jack Sparrow from The Pirates of the Caribbean fame, Hannah Montana getting the best of both her worlds, Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez and the rest of the gang in The High School Musical, are just some of the latest additions to the growing list of colorful Disney characters that were brought to life by actors. In the animated form, favorites include, among others, the single ladies Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Pocahontas and Jasmine in their adversities and adventures that lead them to meet their respective charming princes.

Personified Characters

In the literary sense, attributing human characters to non-human figures such as animals or inanimate objects is called personification. This technique is well-used in the Disney world starting with its (flag bearer) Mickey Mouse followed by Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, Dumbo and in more recent years Simba, Abu from Aladdin, Winnie the Pooh and friends Kanga, Roo, Tigger and Eeyore.

Meanwhile Lightning McQueen and the gang from Radiator Springs including Sally, Doc Hudson and Mater of course are some of the many inanimate objects that were given life in the wonderful world of Disney. Along with Buzz Lightyear and Woody from the Toy Story and Chip, Lumiere and Mrs. Potts from Beast’s enchanted palace these folks are effective means not only of entertainment but of conveying the values embedded in these family-oriented storylines which Disney is known for.

These characters, human or otherwise, appeal to Disney viewers because of the man-like traits they exhibit. In one way or another, the anthropomorphic qualities they display mirror what the audience posses or what they desire to emulate.

With the cable network’s programs designed to cater to diverse viewership including children and family, it has recently been successful in attracting the young adult group as well. The channel produces around five to seven movies on the average annually, most of these eventually released into DVDs shortly after.

Perhaps one key behind this achievement is the recurring theme which the young crowd easily relates to: having a goal and going after it despite seemingly insurmountable odds. This is exactly what the Cheetah Girls went through during their freshmen year as they fight their way to form an all-female group. In this 2003 movie, the characters are successful in eventually coming up with a band. Meanwhile in its next two sequels, namely Cheetah Girls 2 released in 2006 and Cheetah Girls 3 two years later, the girls progress to overcoming similar challenges while in Spain and India, respectively.

High School Musical has perhaps the most successful franchise from among the films of this genre. Featured as a Disney Original Movie in 2006, the story gives a modern twist to the Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet. Young love and making choices amidst peer pressure, the musical’s successful appeal to the teen crowd resulted to its TV sequel in 2007 and a movie spin off in 2008. The movies’ soundtracks were also well received.
Meanwhile Jump In currently holds the record as Disney’s highest viewed film, a title previously held by Cheetah Girls 2. Initially shown in 2007, the flick is about a teenager whose interest on boxing eventually shifts to Double Dutch. It is another story about taking a stand, sticking to values and never giving up.

With the snowy mountains of Vermont as its backdrop, Johnny Tsunami is another teen-oriented Disney movie released more than a decade ago. Nevertheless the values it promotes are as important and timeless as it teaches how to deal with rivalries as well as on the importance of family and of young love. This precursor to the 2007 Johnny Kapahala sequel inspires beating competition through non-violence.

Appealing to the young audience, these Disney Channel Original Movies reflect their stories, mirroring the same trials and difficulties that they face. They are the protagonists. Watching characters that they can relate to as they surmount these challenges is inspirational material. It conveys the message that they, the average teen, can also prevail over similar growing pains.

With a little advance planning as your key strategy, the budget may not be as overwhelming as you think.

As with any task, when thorough planning is done, execution has a higher chance of being less complicated, even problem-free. A similar approach should be considered in taking a vacation. With the number of choices and information available online, if you set aside time to check around, your Disney vacation may be well contained within an affordable budget. Following are some suggestions to take note of:

First on the list is when to go. The timing of the trip is essential. Vacation packages or travel deals are generally more attractive in the months of April and May than during spring break. Promotional rates for airfares or hotel accommodations are much better during this period than on any other time of the year.

Second item is where to stay. The distance of your lodging to the theme park is another item that requires forethought since chances are hotels close by are most likely to be pricey. However, if the place is close enough for you to save on gas or fare during your entire stay, then it is something that is worth taking into account. It would be good to do a bit of research on the internet for the ongoing rates. Some suggested sites for information on very affordable packages are Orbitz Travel, Hotwire.com and Priceline.com.

Third is to consider travel clubs. It would be good to tap into what non-profit organizations can bring forth to your planning. For instance with the American Automobile Association, apart from bookings and discounted travels, did you know that AAA (known too as “triple-A”) also has trip advisor assistance among its services? Meanwhile, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) provide great benefits to its members such as waived booking fees, discounted car rental rates and even tips on vacationing with pets! Such clubs also arrange regular tour groups to Florida. And while we are on the topic, why not check on special vacation packages for employees since there are some companies that include such among its staff benefits? Or tap into your church or local communities for activities that include group travel. If none is forthcoming then why not initiate one?

Fourth is to give into the advantages of a travel agent. Apart from having the skills, your agent will have the network and even restricted information on special rates and packages.

A little out-of-the-box-thinking is what you may just need to get this dream vacation going. Now start packing and have a safe trip!

It was known as Disneyland when it opened on 1955 and in 1998, the theme park was re-branded as “Disneyland Park” to distinguish it from the giant Disneyland Resort complex.

Mr. Disney came up with the concept of Disneyland after visiting many amusement parks during the 1930s and 1940s. Then his dream came into reality with a dreamy world Disney Park. The construction began in 1954 and the park was unveiled in 1955.

Disneyland has undergone a number of extensions with times like in 1966 New Orleans Square, in 1972 Bear Country, and in 1993 Mickey’s Toontown. And finally Disney California Adventure Park was built on the site of Disneyland’s original parking lot to expand on the one-park, one-hotel property. In the late 1990s construction work began and opened in 2001. Though it is smaller than Orlando’s Walt Disney World, Disneyland California or “Disneyland Resort” holds the place of the first Disney Park and the only Disney theme park in which Walt actually walked.

Additional components of this Disney resort are a another theme park, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex, Disney’s California Adventure Park; Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Downtown Disney; a remodeled Disneyland Hotel, and the Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

The Disneyland was re-created at Disney World in Orlando as the classic “Magic Kingdom” theme park. Now this theme park is called “Disneyland® Park which is undergoing a giant renovation. Friends and Families may plan a trip of at least two days, to visit both parks.
